Our Basic Care Plus program provides residential
care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The program serves adolescent
girls twelve and older. Wilson Cottage, Willis Cottage and Delta
Cottage are dedicated to this program. Each cottage houses approximately
sixteen girls. It is a family style living model with a common
living area, kitchen, and laundry facility. Most girls have a
roommate.
Each cottage is staffed by a professional team which
includes: a master's level therapist, a cottage coordinator, and
four direct care staff. The staff works as a team to establish
an Individual Care Plan (ICP) for each resident. The team model
helps create a consistent therapeutic program enabling staff to
find creative ways to help each resident reach her goals and achieve
her potential.
All residents must attend public school. Some residents
attend GED school, but most of our youth attend Heritage High
School, or Edwards Middle School. We have an Education Specialist
on staff that works closely with the schools to maintain a good
relationship and to make the transition to a new school as easy
as possible for the incoming student. Since many of our residents
have not had prior success in school, we have created a tutoring
program which provides opportunities for students to improve their
academic success.
Aftercare is a service provided to residents and
their families, for six months, after a resident has successfully
completed the program. The Aftercare Coordinator provides in home
therapeutic services and connects families to resources within
their community.
